what is a mantra? by Sean Bateman
what is a mantra ??
or a crash course in meta-pyshics...
to search for information about meta-physics or the spiritual realm...and likewise the google search engine is great...
but there are several occult specific or "new age" search engines also:

www.godserver.com
spiriutalsearch.net
meta-religion.com
or find your own...

wiki-pedia...
i'd like to introduce you to and encourage you to use the "Wikipedia" which is an on-line free encyclopedia and reference source that anyone can edit:
it seems to be free of the average "christian" moral projections usually reserved for reference sources...
even many dictionaries and historical and academic sources are tainted by: the "dominant (white-hetero --- "christian" - religious right -- consumer media) culture"
to expand:
Accounts of history - biographies and much of the records of how we define our modern psyches -- (by history) or relate to our selves in relation to our culture or how we attribute "value" to ourselves...
is filtered through the dominant "fixed" realities of "western" ideas and ideals...
(however) - the "wikipedia" seems to be a non biased reference source that i use in my quest to further my spiritual knowledge and metapyhsical awareness...
so i recommend it as the ultimate -- Main - primary - data bank of answers, definitions and information -- to begin any search for information and in-queries in general with specific mention concerning "spiritual" questions...or "occult" information...
most dictionaries and encyclopedias - on line or actual - in my opinion, in one way or another seem to serve or enforce the "reality" of the "dominant" "christian" based culture in one way or another...
just a "heads-up" here if you want to have a handy reference guide and source then use the wikipedia...
it's completely egalitarian - non-eilitist and unbiased in its orientation and applications to offer basic information with regard to meta-pyshics and esoteric and occult knowledge...
ok enough said...
heres a few meta-physical subjects that i ponder or try to expand my awareness of:
what is a mantra ?
what exactly is "quantum mechanics?"
who where the "Taoist immortals?"
who were the first shaolin monks?"
what is the "oldest" form of magic or mysticism?"
what are the true origins of eastern "Medicine?"
the history of witches and witchcraft
why is their a historical "hatred" and fear of "witches...?"
"what is "alchemy" and where does it originate from?" >>> see: www.levity.com
so --
for those interested in the occult or (specific)esoteric knowledge, if you are so inclined, try a wiki-pedia search of some of these...(listed below)
and happy surfing...
change your reality?
try to remember that there is no such thing as a "fixed" reality: >>> no reality is "fixed..."
everything is constantly "morphing" and changing and evolving...even our physical forms here...
or
the only sure thing is "change..."
or said another way..."this too shall pass..."
which brings us to - the idea of and definition of a mantra...
"In the spiritual tradition, a "mantra" is defined as a "sacred" word or phrase, which is chanted repeatedly and used as an aid to meditation or in the attainment of psychic states..."
(ask.com search - "what is a mantra?")
the wikipedia search provides the following: under search: "mantra"
In Tibet, many Buddhists carve mantras into rocks as a form of devotion.
A mantra (मन्त्र) is a religious syllable or poem, typically from the Sanskrit language. Their use varies according to the school and philosophy associated with the mantra. They are primarily used as spiritual conduits, words or vibrations that instill one-pointed concentration in the devotee. Other purposes have included religious ceremonies to accumulate wealth, avoid danger, or eliminate enemies. Mantras originated in India with Vedic Hinduism and were later adopted by Buddhists, Sikhs and Jains, now popular in various modern forms of spiritual practice which are loosely based on practices of these Eastern religions.
The Sanskrit word mantra- (m. मन्त्रः, also n. मन्त्रं) consists of the root man- "to think" (also in manas "mind") and the suffix -tra meaning, tool, hence a literal translation would be "instrument of thought". Mantras are interpreted to be effective as sound (vibration), to the effect that great emphasis is put on correct pronunciation (resulting in an early development of a science of phonetics in India). They are intended to deliver the mind from illusion and material inclinations. Chanting is the process of repeating a mantra.
some examples of "mantras" which are basically, short - often rhythmic, series of words...
that you can combine to "call forth" or "affirm" your intentions and / or "manifest" or change your "reality..."
examples of mantras you can use for yourself...
below:
chose one -- and then --- say aloud and repeat-----:
i have all the energy i need...anytime i need it...
my pain - fear and dis-ease is dissolving and disappearing...
my vital energies are replenished in peace, joy and safety...
i chose to manifest a healthy body...
I banish all fear, doubt and dis-ease...
I'am surrounded by angels...
my blood is clean...my body is healed...
there is a miracle of healing -- wherever i need it --
I get everything i need -- exactly when i need it...
everything i need comes to me quickly and easily without a problem...
i have plenty of love and plenty of money...
i "vibrate" to health and harmony...
i feel the pure sensation of love around me...
or
create your own...
your chosen mantra should be a short phrase - that you can say to yourself throughout the day --
almost like a poem or song...
"i have plenty of love and plenty of money..."
repeat in your mind as often as you like when walking down the street or driving...or
chosen one and "energize" it by repeating it aloud or within constantly for a week or a month and watch the changes occur...
write it down several times a day or place it where you can see it often...
on your lap-top or desk, refrigerator etc...
instead of saying to yourself...
"i'am always in debt..."
or
"I never have enough money..."
and yeah -- ((god does like - money...ok?
just for the record...
yep, god - really does want you to "have" money...
money can be a creative force in the world as well as a destructive one...))
ask me about this - if you don't believe me...
the "idea" of affirming or influencing reality is not some recent invention of modern or "new age" mystics or psychics...
the mantra is an ancient form of spirituality...
the modern equivalent is the - "positive affirmation..."
google search: "the game of life.." by Florence Scovel shinn - (early 1950s)
or
"you can heal your life." louise hay - (mid 1980s)
you can replace what you don't want in your realities with something you do and then self create your lives to suit who and what you want to be...or become..
create toward a "vision" and "visualize" your life as youd like it to be...and then affirm that vision with your mantra...(see: the artist's way" by julia cameron for a step by step guide on how to achieve this...)
a mantra (is):
- can - become(s)
a "thought form" and a living "entity" creating the intonation and vibration of what you are "affirming..."
you can write your mantra down and then light candles to ""infuse" the mantra with "power..."
>>>consider that: we are always having a dialogue within ourselves...
but oftentimes our reference points - in relation to ourselves are/can be, self destructive and/or based on information we received when younger: hence--- "old information..." or no longer valid or true...
some of these -- "old tapes" run through our thoughts - and have been there for so long that we don't even realize we are indeed creating our future realities by allowing them to exist, (within you --->or in your "mind...)
said another way: basically>>
what you "think" truly - is what you get...
or said another way---
You get not, what you deserve -- but, you get what you "think" you deserve...
heres some examples of what i call "mind viruses..."
which get into our thoughts or were "put there" when we were younger...
"i'am no good..."
"i'll never win..."
"I can't do anything right..."
"i'am no good with money..."
"i'am too fat -- too tall -- too short -- strange - old - young..." to get what i want....
ok -- enough said...
so - you can replace these "negative" affirmations with something "positive..."
as they say: "like - attracts like..."
>>>let me just take a moment to remind you that: your not here to be punished...or live in pain - fear or constant doubt...
that
"god" did not bring us :"here" or you weren't born to be punished and live in fear...and pain...
i believe, we incarnated into this lifetime to create and experience lives that we can enjoy in the material world and create: a "heaven" on earth...
?? just consider it --
ok?
that "peace" begins within the individual...and fans out accordingly...
likewise some would argue that we "co--create" our lives and even our "bodies" by affirming our present realties which bring us into our future realities...
consider...
your body is a living entity - coupled with your mind and spirit---
i truly do believe - many types of "dis-eases.." are self created...
true, some are not, or it may be our - "karma" to experience dis-ease in this lifetime, in order to clear away -- emotional baggage...or lies that we carry around in our heads...and bodies...
according to eatern belief systems - dis-ease is simply: a blockage of energy...??
just ponder it...
likewise: you'll want to replace "I want..." with
"I have..."
so
"I want more money...or love..."
becomes...
"I have plenty of cash..."
or
"I have alot of love - around me..."
etc...
to affirm...that you "want" something - simply puts you in the state of "wanting" it -- affirming that you "have" something begins to bring it toward you...
>>>the more spiritual aligned we become with "spirit" the more the "ego" of living "Entity" that was fed -- or perhaps created in re-action to (your) psychic wounds begins to "act - out" because it is no longer receiving the input "energy" that it is use to...
if that makes sense...
in order to survive here in this reality we need that ego to protect us at times -- we also need those "primitive" energies to tell us when we are in danger and likewise we need the "ego" which respects the rules and regulations of our modern society...
i think that freud came pretty close to defining
what is going on in our modern "psyches" with respect to our mental and emotional and psychic states...
but also -- carl jung - who was a contemporary of freud - also tapped into and further expanded on the ideas of the "ego" "super-ego" and "id"
by underlining the operations of symbolism and by the introduction of: "archetypes" and the popular, "collective-conciousness"
more on this later...
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
to recap: a mantra is simply a good way to get rid of the "shit" in your head that you hear all the time...
right?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>"witches" are "Evil..." ???
coming soon....
